Roshen’s Chess Academy Scholastic K-12 Chess Tournament

2025 OSCF State Championship Qualifier

Roshen’s Chess Academy invites you to a tournament that benefits the Oregon Chess Federation (OCF), Portland Chess Club (PCC), HECSA, and the local businesses at Lloyd Center. 100% of all proceeds (minus operating expenses) go to HECSA, Oregon Chess Federation and Portland Chess Club.

Entry fee: $30. REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 12 PM (NOON) ON FRIDAY, MAY 10th,2024. No entrees will be accepted after that. Please register using the following link: https://tinyurl.com/Roshen Chess Academy Tournament.

The first 16 players for each tournament with a USCF rating of 1000 or above will enjoy FREE entry into our tournaments. Also, as a promotion to female players, if a female player wins half or more of their games in any of our tournaments, they will get a FREE entry in the following month’s tournament. The associated costs will be covered by the Roshen Nair Foundation

Format: 4-round US Chess rated Swiss tournament. Open to all scholastic chess players.

Time control: G/25;+5 (25 minutes per player with 5 seconds added after each move).

Tentative schedule below (Saturday, May 11th):

Players meeting @ 9:45 am

Round 1 @ 10 am   ||   Round 2 @ 11 am   ||   Lunch break: Noon-12:30 pm   ||   Round 3 @ 12:30 pm   ||   Round 4 @ 1:30 pm

Prize distribution starts @ 2:45 pm

Ratings & Section details: This will be an USCF tournament. US Chess membership is required, which can be purchased on the US Chess website (www.uschess.org). You can find more information on the USCF membership benefits here >  US Chess membership rates/information/benefits.

Prizes:

        * Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place per section (based on 16-18 players per section).

        * Medals for all plus scorers (who score at least 2.5 out of the 4 rounds) 

        * Medals for all even scorers (who score 2 points out of 4).
