2025 Oregon Girls Championship by Oregon Chess Federation (OCF)
The 2025 Oregon Girls Championship will be held on Sunday, February 2, at the Portland Chess Club in the Lloyd Center Mall. There will be multiple sections based on rating and experienced level. Beginners and unrated players are welcome. There will be a dedicated beginner’s section. The top section is a qualifier for the national Haring Tournament of Girls State Champions. This tournament is co-sponsored by Rose City Chess, Puddletown Chess and the Oregon Chess Federation.
Eligibility: U600 and U900 sections open to all K-12 girls: out-of-state players welcome. Top (Open) section open to K-12 girls who reside in Oregon.
Format: Lower sections (U900 and U600) are a 5-round Swiss, (every player plays every round). Top section (Open) is a 4-round Swiss. Up to two half-point byes are available if requested before round one.
Time Control: Lower sections G/25; +5 (twenty-five minutes per player with a five second increment each move). Top section G/45; +5. Both time controls are dual, (regular and quick), rated.
Sections (Sections may be further divided or combined at the discretion of the Tournament Director):
Beginner (U600 and Unrated K-5)
Intermediate (U900 and Unrated 6-12)
Open (900+ and players competing for the nomination to the Haring Tournament of State Champions).
Schedule: Check-in between 9-9:45am. For the lower sections, rounds are at 10am, 11am or ASAP, 12:30pm or ASAP, 1:30pm or ASAP, and 2:40pm or ASAP. For the top section, rounds are at 10am, 11:40am or ASAP, 1:20pm or ASAP, and 3pm or ASAP. Complementary ice cream party before the last round and award ceremony after the last round, around 4pm.
Registration: Online only; The registration deadline is Saturday, February 1, at 8:00pm PST.

Membership Requirements: US Chess membership required. The organizers will register or renew memberships for all participants at no charge.
Rated: US Chess rated.
Prizes: Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in all sections. Ties will be broken based on US Chess recommended tiebreaks. Rose City Chess will treat every player to a free Blizzard, while Puddletown Chess will gift each participant a stainless-steel tumbler—an essential companion for both strategic gameplay and outdoor adventures!
