Scappoose - Mike Sheehan Memorial

The City of Scappoose welcomes you to the Mike Sheehan Memorial chess tournament! An all-ages USCF-rated tournament, and qualifier for the OSCF K-12 state championship in Seaside, including free snacks and pizza lunch, and a free unrated friends and family tournament section.

Check-in: Registration 8-9:15am. 1st round at 9:30AM.

Cost: $20 for individuals, or $25 for each set of two from a particular school. (Cash or check at door.)

Format: 5 rounds Swiss-pairing (no elimination). Game in 25 minutes with 5-second bonus. Advanced, Intermediate, and Beginner sections TBD based on registrants. USCF-rated.

An unrated 'Friends & Family' section will be organized after the start of the main rated section, and the number of rounds and other details may be modified depending on the number of entrants. 

Qualifications: All ages, US Chess Federation memberships required. K-12 players without active USCF memberships at the day of the tournament will receive a membership included in the cost of registration. Adult memberships can be purchased here.

Food: Free snacks and a pizza lunch provided to all registered participants.

T-shirts: Free to all who register before November 1, 2024.

Prizes: Rated sections - Unique hand-crafted wood trophies to the top 3 in each division. Medals for top 15 in each division. Unrated friends & family - t-shirt for top winner.
