The prestigious U.S. Girls’ Junior, U.S. Junior and U.S. Senior Championships in 2023 came to an exciting conclusion on July 24 after 10 days of intensive play in Saint Louis. Each event featured ten of the nation’s best junior and senior players competing for more than $150,000 in prizes and scholarships. “The caliber of talent we saw among these young players indicates that American chess continues to grow and thrive,” said Tony Rich, Executive Director of the Saint Louis Chess Club.
Congratulations to our scholastic chess player Zoey Tang, who tied for third in the US Girls’ Junior Championship and won $2,500 in prize. This is Zoey’s second year to attend this event. “I am really happy to tie for third in this event and look forward to next year!” said Zoey after the event.
