Tournaments for All!

Even if you’re not able to attend the All-Stars event in Salem (want to make All-Stars next year?  Consider these tips!), there are PLENTY of opportunities coming up that will stretch out your chess brain for the coming season.  Here are just a few…

October 19, 2013: 2nd Annual Clackamas K-12 Open.  At Clackamas High School, in Clackamas, OR.  A large, prize-heavy, and flexible event (intended to permit you to avoid conflicts with soccer games!), the second year of this tournament promises to be even bigger and better than last year!  Over $1000 in prizes will be available from local businesses, as well as trophies for individual and team awards.  Get more details and access online registration by clicking here.

November 11, 2013 (Monday): 1st Annual KFE Benefit Tournament.  Located in Tigard, OR, near Washington Square, this event is a benefit for the food pantry at Bethlehem-House of Bread.  Come to play chess, and bring along a donation of shelf-stable food for the pantry. 5 round swiss divided by grade.  More details and registration by clicking here.

Many other events in October and November are listed on the NWSRS Calendar; if you’re holding a tournament and would like to have it serve as a qualifier, and would like to let people know about it here, contact us!
