Summer Chess Camps

Summer is fast approaching. With school out and more free time, summer is an excellent time for kids to develop their skills and knowledge at chess camp. While the OSCF does not endorse any outside third-party organizations, we thought you might like to see the following list of camps that have been recommended by coaches, parents, players, and other participants from past OSCF events:

1. Chess Odyssey Summer Camps: Chess Odyssey, run by local National Master Pete Prochaska, runs chess camps throughout the summer at various locations in the Portland area. For more information, visit their website or e-mail Mike Terrill at mterrill@chessodyssey.com.

2. OES Chess Camps: Tony Hann from Mozek Games is the instructor at the Oregon Episcopal School. For more information, visit their website.

3. Orlov Chess Academy: Up in nearby Seattle, Orlov Chess Academy provides world-class instruction from coaches such as International Master Georgi Orlov and International Grandmaster Emil Anka. For more information, visit their website.

4. St. Olaf College: St. Olaf College in Minnesota offers a dorm experience with world-class instruction from grandmasters and international masters. Tuition includes lodging and meals. Learn more at their website.

Note to parents and coaches: If you are running a camp in Oregon this summer and would like to be added to this list, please contact us.
