Oregon Open Scholastic Tournament Online on Sept. 5

In connection with the Oregon Chess Federation, Washington Chess Federation, Portland Chess Club’s annual Oregon Open, we will be holding the Oregon Open Scholastic Tournament online.  While the full three-day Oregon Open tournament will be great for those of you who want the challenge of playing very long time controls against adult players (they play two games a day for three days; see here for more details), the shorter time controls of the scholastic section will be a great warmup for the new academic year of chess.

Format: A four-round Swiss system tournament in two sections: Open and U1100.

Rating: NWSRS Rated.  NWSRS ratings will be used to determine pairings and sections.

Time Control: G/45;+5 second increment.

Rounds: 10 AM;  11:45 AM;  1:30 PM;  3:15 PM.

Entry Fee:  $20

Prizes:   Open:  1st, 2nd, 3rd: $30-25-15

U1100: 1st, 2nd, 3rd: $30-25-15

Registration: Register online at: https://nwchess.com/OnlineRegistration/Registration deadline Fri. September 4 @ 7 PM.  No registrations or payments accepted after the deadline.

Procedure:  Pairings will be released prior to the start of each round.  Games will be started automatically by the TD in the Live Chess area.  Players must report their result upon completion of the game.

Fair Play Policy:  All parents are required to sign the WCF Fair Play Agreement prior to the start of the tournament.  All players will be monitored via Zoom during the games.  The Oregon Open Fair Play Committee will review any suspicious games on a case-by-case basis. Cheating of any kind is strictly prohibited.
