Oregon High School Team Championship Feb. 27-28!

Since the 1960s, the Oregon High School Chess Team Association has encouraged Oregon high schools to form leagues to play competitive chess.  At the end of each chess season, the OHSCTA sponsors the Oregon High School Chess Team Association Championship, where all teams in Oregon gather together to determine the best of the best!  In the association’s unique competition format, five-player teams from high schools of all sizes compete together in a single section to determine both overall state champions and champions from each of the OSAA classifications–1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A and 6A. In a separate section, five-player junior varsity teams from schools of all sizes — as well as, for the first time in 2015, Middle Schools — compete together for overall state and OSAA classification junior varsity honors.  Finally, those who do not have school affiliations — or those from out of state — are invited to participate in either the Open Team section or the individual competition.

This year’s OHSCTA Championship will be held on February 27-28 at the Sylvania Campus of Portland Community College in SW Portland.  Your registration can be completed on line through the OHSCTA web site noted above, but your registration must be complete by February 25, so gather your teams now!
