2021 OSCF State Championship Qualifier – REGISTER NOW!
Chess for Success and Oregon Scholastic Chess Federation are hosting an online tournament that affirms our mutual dedication to racial justice and equality. The prize fund will be equal to approximately 25% of entry fees, with the remainder being distributed equally between Chess for Success and the Black United Fund of Oregon.
The event will be 5-round, Swiss-Paired, G25+5 tournament on lichess.org open to all players regardless of age or residency. The tournament will be rated on Lichess.org. It will also be NWSRS rated and will serve as a qualifier for the 2021 OSCF State Championship.
Black United Fund of Oregon (BUF) assists in the social and economic development of Oregon’s underserved communities and contributes to a broader understanding of culturally and ethnically diverse groups. For more than 35 years, BUF’s programs have helped BIPOC youth reach their postsecondary and career aspirations. Additionally, BUF’s nearly four decades of community leadership experience strengthen BIPOC-led and -serving nonprofits through training and technical assistance. BUF’s new initiative – Juneteenth & Justice -celebrates the Juneteenth holiday while recognizing the challenges we face in achieving equity for all.
Chess for Success is a registered non-profit that provides free chess equipment, instruction, and tournament entries to low-income youth in Oregon and SW Washington.
Oregon Scholastic Chess Federation is a registered non-profit operated by volunteers that promotes, sponsors, and coordinates scholastic chess tournaments in the State of Oregon.
