OSCF State: Who’s Coming?

We currently (as of midnight+1 on May 2) have 346 players registered for the 12th Annual OSCF State Chess Championship!  Who’s Coming?  Check below (click “Read more”).  If you’re not on this list, but think you should be, please CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY by emailing oscf@oscf.org!  Late registration is still available through Wednesday evening:  Click Here — REGISTER NOW!  We will be sending emails to those who are in the HS and MS Platinum sections that start Friday morning a little later this week; we’ll also be sending more details on the event itself.

 

End of the Trail: Final* Qualifications Lists For State

We have posted the nearly-final qualification lists for the 12th Annual OSCF State Chess Championship, which include all games submitted for rating through April 25. Check here to see if you’re one of the 528 players who qualified.

If you’re not on that list, but think you should be, check the “almost” lists — those who still need a qualifying tournament, and those who need more rated games to meet the established rating requirement. If you think you have accidentally been left off the lists, please CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY by emailing oscf@oscf.org!

EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION ($35) EXPIRES WEDNESDAY, April 26…so REGISTER NOW!  Note that regular registration ($45) closes Saturday 4/29 at Noon; Late, late registration ($75) closes next Wednesday May 3. 

Updated Qualification Lists for State: Only 2 Qualifying Tournaments Remain!

We have posted updated qualification lists for the 12th Annual OSCF State Chess Championship, which include all games submitted for rating through April 18. Check here to see if you’re one of the 512 players who have already qualified.

If you’re not on that list, check the “almost” lists — those who still need a qualifying tournament, and those who need more rated games to meet the established rating requirement.  If you’re not yet qualified, but on one of those lists, you have until April 26 to make it happen!  Two qualifying events will take place before the April 26 deadline (which is also the deadline for early registration):

•  April 22: Oregon State Girls’ Championship (Portland): Must register by 11 p.m. on April 21!
•  April 23: Bethel April Quads (Eugene)

2017 Oregon State Girls Championship on April 22 in Portland

Registration is closing tonight (11PM) for the first ever Oregon Girls Championship.

Saturday Check-in:

Reserve Section: 8:15 – 8:40

Championship: 8:15 – 8:55

 

Oregon Chess Federation together with Oregon Scholastic Chess Federation and Portland Chess Club would like to invite all the girls to the 2017 Oregon State Girls Championship on Saturday, April 22 at the Portland Chess Club.  This event will determine Oregon’s nominees to two fantastic national women’s scholastic events:  The SPFGI and the NGTOC.

Championship Section:  Four rounds, G/55 + 5 seconds increment Swiss. Dual Rated. Open to all female Oregon Residents under age 19 as of 6/14/17; USCF and OCF membership required. Rounds at 9am, 11:15am, 1:30pm, 3:45pm.

Reserve Section:  Four rounds, G/40;d5 Swiss.  NWSRS Rated. Open to all scholastic women players.  Rounds at 8:45am, 10:30am, 12:45pm, 2:15pm.

Clocks and notation required for both sections – clocks and score sheets will be provided (TD might allow no notation in reserve section if requested by the player).

Championship Section Prizes:

  • Nomination: The first two places will represent Oregon State in 2017 US Chess National Girls Tournament of Champions and 2017 Susan Polgar Foundation Girls Invitational.  Champion has the first choice to pick the tournament.
  • Bursary: The total bursary will be equally divided between the first and second place winners; the amount will be determined by subtracting tournament expenses from the total entry fees received for this tournament.
  • Tiebreaks: In case of a tie for 1st and/or 2nd a playoff round with G/15 white, G/12 black with draw odds will determine winner.
  • Trophies/medals for 1st-5th Places (3rd to 5th place tiebreak will be used).

Reserve Section Prizes:

  • Trophies for 1st-5th Places
  • Reserve Champion will also receive one year USCF Membership (Young adult, Youth or Scholastic – depending on the age of the player). Same tiebreaker as in the top section.

Entry fee: Pre-payment $30 or paying at the door (Cash only with pre-registration).

Online registration at 2017 Oregon State Girls Chess Championship.  Must pre-register(email the required information). Registration deadline is April 21st at 23:00pm (no registrations accepted after the deadline).

If you’re not on that list, check the “almost” lists — those who still need a qualifying tournament, and those who need more rated games to meet the established rating requirement.  If you’re not yet qualified, but on one of those lists, you can still do it!  There are three tournaments remaining in the Portland and Eugene areas before the absolute April 26 deadline (which is also the deadline for early registration).  Check the NWSRS Calendar for green-colored events, including:

April 16: Silver Knights Quads (Happy Valley)
April 22: Oregon State Girls’ Championship (Portland)
April 23: Bethel April Quads (Eugene)
